Realizing superior performance through human-machine teaming
Computational systems are smarter and more autonomous than ever. Computing is becoming more and more pervasive through mobile computing, the Internet of Things, and other technologies. This increasing use of complex, autonomous systems demands new human-machine interaction models. Humans need to give higher-level commands or even communicate intent to ensembles of machines. They need to be able to transfer prioritized rules of engagement or ethical guidelines to machines.
We address technology gaps that hinder development of a new human-machine paradigm. We are developing tools to innovate data visualization (such as augmented reality), interfaces, and human-in-the-loop operation. We are applying biometrics and machine emotional intelligence for military and intelligence operational use. We are creating, training, and applying machine-learning algorithms to augment human analysis capability.
